Thelma Irene (Bunty) Viney

   Cause of her death was 1 (a) Metastatic Squamous Cell Carcinoma of Lung, 2. Chronic Obstruction Pulmonary Disease frailty of Old Age.

   Another name for Thelma was Bunty.

  General Notes:

The following came straight from Thelma.
I was Born at 2 Palmrya Road, Gosport and moved to 11 Mortimore Road at about 4 years of age.
I went to Brockhurst Infants/ Junior/ Senior school, Avery Lane, Gosport at about 5 years of age. I was sent to Privet Senior School for 2 or 3 weeks, then they realised i shouldn't be there, as the catchment area was actually Brockhurst Seniors. I left school, on Friday 12th Dec 1947 and started work on the Monday 15th Dec 1947 as a Probationer (Waiting to be a Telephonist) at The GPO, Commercial Road, Portsmouth, England. We were called Greenies because of the green overals we had to wear. Some of the jobs we had to do were, writting out cards by hand reminding people to renew their radio licence and then they were posted out. Helped to sort out the store room (Good Scive, we played darts) lots of odd jobs. I left The GPO on the 12th March 1954 when i married my childrens dad, Leslie Salway.

In 1939 When the war broke out, i was evacuated to Eastleigh for 3 months, i was sent home as we were no safer in Eastleigh.

Thelma was diagnosed with Lung Cancer in October 2020, 1 day after confirmation of the cancer Thelma had a fall and broke her hip, her physical and mental health went down hill from there. She was no longer fit to live on her own and moved into Northcott House, where she spent her last christmas. Her health become worse and she was taken back into hospital where she passed away. Her 3 children spent some time with her not long before she passed away.
Thelma died at about 18:00hrs on ward E7 at the Hospital. Her funeral was arranged through Ruby Funeral Ltd. Her wake took place at The Angelsey Hotel, in Alverstoke.
Age 86 at the time of her death.

Thelma married Leslie Albert Salway, son of Albert Edward Salway and Kathleen 'kate' Rogers, on 19 Mar 1954 in Saint Marys Church, Alverstoke, Gosport, Hampshire, England. (Leslie Albert Salway was born on 16 Sep 1930 in 91 Stansted Road, Southsea, Portsmouth, England, died in Oct 1991 in Littlehampton, Sussex, England and was buried on 5 Nov 1991 in Porchester Crematorium, Hampshire, England.). The cause of his death was Heart Attack.

Thelma next married Royal Edward De Bourne, son of Frank Royal De Bourne and Alice Mary Elizabeth Franklin, on 2 Oct 1987 in Registry Office, Fareham, Hampshire, England. (Royal Edward De Bourne was born on 11 Dec 1921 in Burnham, Westgate, Norfolk, England, died on 30 Sep 2008 in 71 Bryher Island, Port Solent, Portmouth, Hampshire and was buried on 15 Oct 2008 in Portchester Cremotorium, Portchester, Fareham, Hampshire.). The cause of his death was (a) Left Ventricular Failure, (b) Ischaemic Cardiomyopathy, (c) Coronary Artery Atheroma Hypertension.
